My CV
-
Education:
I went to school in Barcelona and stayed there for University. I liked it so much I ended doing a Master’s and a PhD there!
-
Qualifications:
As I come from a different school system as the one in the UK, it’s a bit difficult to compare. But when I was 16 I had to choose which subjects I preferred and I chose Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths.
-
Work History:
My first job was as a PhD student in Barcelona. After becoming a doctor, I got an offer to continue my research in Germany. I spent two years in a very beautiful German city but getting to speak German was definitely not a piece of cake! Later on, my husband and I moved to Cambridge and I have been working at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology since.
-
Current Job:
Right now I am a postdoctoral researcher in the Laboratory of Molecular Biology. Most people in my research group use computers to analyse very big amounts of data on genetics and protein 3D structure to understand how proteins make our different cells function.
-
About Me:
I was born in Barcelona and, after a while in Germany, I am now a researcher in Cambridge. When I’m not doing science, I like travelling, going to the cinema and trying to get better at photography.
-
My Typical Day:
My day starts with a bike ride to work through Cambridge. It’s a good way to wake up and sometimes I even need to negotiate my way with a herd of cows. I then spend most of my time in front of my computer… but fortunately my colleagues are always there to have a break and to discuss how our scientific projects are going.
