• Question: What GCSEs did you take? Would you say that any you didn’t end up needing were worth it?

Hi @EmilyHC 🙂 Thanks very much for your question. I hope you are doing ok during this time. I did my GCSEs back in 2006 so am not too sure how much things have changed since then, but here is my list of subjects in addition to Maths, English language and English literature: Triple science, French, German, Design and Technology (Resistant Materials), Geography and IT. However difficult it was at the time to be sure that I was choosing the right combination of subjects, I do think they have all proved to be useful even though I didn’t end up studying them further at higher education. Modern languages are very useful in any case, and I actually would say that having done Design and Technology has proved very beneficial in my scientific career because designing experiments has many parallels. I hope that answer helps, but feel free to ask away again if you would like to know more 🙂
